Boomer and Slider
After evading local LEO’s, Slider decides to abandon the rental car that he and Boomer and driving. Further Slider calls the rental company and reports the vehicle as stolen.
The two are on the outskirts of downtown Kor Vella and estimate that it will take at least three hours on foot to get back to their ship at the star port. While on foot, they attempt to search for Breth Crylkis among the pedestrians.
Wrasp and Break Out
The two have successfully talked their way past a local constable who was checking their vehicle for an All Points Bulletin regarding a Mirialan Woman and a Duros.
The two continue their journey to the Crylkis mansion and talk over their approach options. They decide to pose as plumbing vendors (based on their Van Ondris Plumbing lead).
Unsien Mos (Breakout) drives up to the security panel outside the front gate and asks the answering attendant to meet with the woman of the house.
The attendant (suspicious) asks several clarifying questions, learning that the strangers are there regarding a plumbing issue, but learns that they’re actually at the right place when Mos identifies that he is there to meet with Dian Crylkis because Chayr is likely unavailable. (That bit checks out). The two are ultimately permitted entry.
Mos and Pooga are greeted by a maid. She greets the two and lead them into the front main living room, where Dian is waiting for them.
Dian is dressed very casually in a kimono and is not made up with slightly disheveled hair. She offers Chi to the two guests and asks if they prefer hot vs cold. (They opt for hot). The maid is asked to provide the refreshment.
Using a combination of the force powers of Influence, and his training in negotiation and inquiry, Pooga asks Dian about Breth and Breth’s situation.
Dian doesn’t know anything about Chayr’s business and she deflects all questions about Crylkis holdings to her husband Char. There’s even an office that Pooga can visit. Dian doesn’t care how the money is made, but she has appreciated the wealth that Chayr has accumulated (as evidenced by the palatial home she lives within).
As for her daughter . . . Dian has already answered the Imperial Security Bureau representatives and has nothing to add!
Pooga tries to assure Dian that he isn’t affiliated with the ISB and believes that Breth may be innocent.
Dian openly disbelieves this claim and remains vitriolic toward her daughter for ruining her son’s future with the Imperial Academy. Bil Crylkis’ future with the Imperial Academy remains in doubt.
While Pooga is talking to Dian, Unsien Mos receives a call on his communicator. Mos takes the call in another room of the spacious home and finds himself talking to Shett Tern, the secretary at Crylkis Holdings. Apparently Mos and his female Mirialan companion missed their 1:00 appointment with Chayr, BUT Shett had removed that appointment from Chayr’s calendar. Shett is eager to reschedule and help the two later that day. He recommends they meet after Chayr departs the office and recommends a 3:00 p.m. appointment. Unsien Mos agrees.
Back to Wrasp. He continues to get some background information about Breth, first asking about Breth’s relationship with the Bothan Diplomat Yin Nikel. Dian is aware of the Bothan, but didn’t think the two were all that close. They would visit with each other cordially during social soirees.
When Wrasp asks Dian who her daughter might visit ‘over night’ Dian mentions her daughter’s best friend Gieca Vartod. Gieca works at Drive Systems Control Protocols (DSCP) and Wrasp is provided Gieca’s residential address by Dian as well.
Pa Pooga, (excited by this new lead) wraps up his interview and, using influence has Dian forget the meeting.
Wrasp and Break Out depart.
Pooga asks Mos about his call and Break Out lets Wrasp know about the rescheduling of his and Boomer’s appointment. Unsien Mos suspects that Shett Tern is trying to lure the two into an ISB trap! Tern mentioned and stressed “the Mirialan Woman” several times during the call, which piques Break Out’s already heightened suspicions about the secretary. Wrasp also suspects that Crylkis Holdings is a shell company. The two agree not to show up for the 3:00 p.m. appointment.
Break Out begins the hour long trip back to Kor Vella while Wrasp contacts Slider and Boomer to get their latest update. Wrasp asks Slider to talk to Yin Nikel and to check out her apartment to see if Breth has taken shelter there.
Boomer and Slider
Slider makes a quick call and has Drips revive Yin Nikel. It will take some time for Nikel to be revived.
Ghost texts the address to Slider a couple of minutes later.
Boomer and Slider grab a Taxi and head to downtown Kor Vella. Yin’s apartment building is similar to Bocs but the doormen are expecting a law enforcement visit and with Slider’s IPKC, they are taken to Yin’s apartment by security.
Yin Nikel’s apartment is very clean and nicely decorated to compliment her Bothan culture. Boomer uses the Sense force power to see if there is anyone in the apartment but detects no life.
Slider checks out the apartment and determines that Yin is the sole occupant and that no one else accessed the apartment since Yin left for work that morning.
Slider calls Wrasp and updates him on their findings. (Or the lack thereof).
Wrasp and Break Out
Wrasp and Break Out check out Gieca Vartod’s apartment. It’s an open apartment with no security and the two are able to get to Gieca’s door. Using the Sense force power, Wrasp and Break Out determine that her apartment contains no one in the apartment.
With it being mid afternoon, the two drive over to her employer DSCP and after a short interlude are directed by DSCP employees to Gieca’s desk.
She’s a secretary in an open hall and juggling a bunch of calls but she’s willing to talk to Wrasp. When Gieca realizes that this Kel Dor and Duros are asking about Breth, she asks a co-worker to cover her desk and she takes the two to the lunch room for privacy. (Mid afternoon, the cafeteria is empty).
Gieca has been questioned by ISB agents and she wasn’t aware of Breth’s rebellion activity and informed the ISB of this case.
Gieca and Breth have been life long friends since primary school and have been very close.
Wrasp allays Gieca’s fears that they’re not affiliated with the ISB and that they are trying to protect Breth. Gieca, (subsequent to being released by the ISB) has been approached by Breth, and Gieca has been giving Breth cash to survive. She informs Wrasp that she even has $2,000 credits that she plans to give to Breth the next time the two meet.
Gieca has no way to contact Breth, but was approached by her friend twice in the past two weeks for cash. Gieca met Breth twice in the past two weeks and Breth approached Gieca close to where she lives, once at a local diner and most recently at a park.
Wrasp decides to grab another taxi and meets Hiv Mavvis. Wrasp pays Hiv $1,000 credits for a $10 fare and asks Hiv to wait. Meanwhile, Break Out decides to tail Gieca in case she is approached by her friend.
Wrasp checks out the park but it’s clear that this is an upscale park catering to lots of kids, but Breth is clearly not there.
Wrasp then has Hiv drive him to the diner where Breth last met up with Gieca and Hiv recommends it. They have great hoagies! Wrasp and Hiv grab a late lunch and they hang out until the 5:00 p.m. rush. Breth doesn’t show.
Boomer and Slider
Fiaye is frustrated and wanted. She grabs one of the bottles of Nubian wine and proceeds to get herself drunk.
The two decide to return to the Swooping Kestrel at the starport. To get past security, Slider goes and purchases some makeup from a local cosmetics store. He explains that he wants to pick up some foundation for his “human girlfriend.” Ultimately he goes with a dark bronzed pigment.
They makeup Fiaye’s face and hands before hailing a cab and that does the trick to getting them back to the Swooping Kestrel.
Slider checks in with Yin and she is understandably upset at being shot and then locked in a cell! (It’s actually a guest room, but this is a starship so rooms are smaller).
Slider apologizes for her mistreatment and unlocks her access to the ship. He reminds Yin that they’re planning on leaving at “any minute” and that she needs to stay on the ship. He shows Yin to the galley so that she can grab a bite to eat. She’s not happy with the shipboard rations, so Slider offers her the Bothan left overs from that morning.
Slider checks in with the rest of the crew and tries to chastise them for shooting Yin, but they each in turn explain that Aliz was following the Captain’s orders to not let Yin depart the ship, and they were in turn following Aliz’ lead.
Several of the crew (now wrapping up the lengthy loading process in order to get the ship ready to leave) ask how soon the Captain will be returning as they want to catch a nice sit down meal at one of the on site restaurants. Slider warns them not to leave for too long and that they don’t have time for a sit down meal. And if they aren’t on the ship when the Captain gets back, they’ll be left behind!
Break Out follow Gieca Vartod as she leaves work. She catches the elevated train back to her neighborhood, and Break Out pursues her on foot (leaving Boomer’s aircar at the DSCP facilities). Geica stands out from everyone else and Break Out is able to shadow her easily. Geica stops at a diner, picking up a simple meal of Fish and Tubers. After dinner, Geica heads out and enjoys a show at the Theater. Break Out continues to shadow Geica and grabs a theater seat too.
Back at the Swooping Kestrel
Wrasp and Hiv take the hint from the wait staff to pay their bill and Wrasp has Hiv take him to the starport and the Swooping Kestrel.
In her quarters, Boomer relaxes into a relaxed state and she seeks out some insight into Breth and sees that Breth is getting ready to shower in a fresher. There aren’t any toiletries and Breth looks very dirty. Fiaye also gets a good look at Breth’s clothes, including a water stained gray poncho. The rest of Breth’s clothes are distressed and ragged. There aren’t many other details, but Boomer gets the impression that Breth is still in the city of Kor Vella .
[At about the same time, (while trying to not get lost in the play) Unsien Mos tries to use his Sense force power to try to find Breth and all he gets is that the woman is showering].
Wrasp checks in with Boomer and quickly notes the slurred speech pattern, easily explained by the mostly empty bottle of Nubian wine.
Boomer is slumped down on Sern’s bunk and demands to know if it’s raining in Kor Vella. Puzzled Wrasp doesn’t know but uses his communicator and calls Break Out. He asks for a weather update, and Mos is able to confirm that there has been no rain. Nor is it raining now!
Wrasp has Drips administer an injection to Boomer that will counter the alcohol coursing through the Mirialan’s veins. Pa Pooga needs Fiaye sober now! Drips is happy to do so and Boomer is shortly awakened and alert.
Wrasp grabs the “A” team and they compare their notes. They have chased down every lead and are no closer to finding Breth than when they began! And the snippets of visions from Boomer and Break Out haven’t helped much!
They decided to track down the invoice that Yin Nikel received from Van Ondriss plumbing two days ago (it’s now Starday! Very VERY a.m.).
A quick search of the public database shows that Van Ondriss has a publicly available service address.
Wrasp calls Break Out and informs him of the new location. The teams plan to meet up at the plumber’s office, which is located convenient to Crylkis Holdings offices.
Before leaving the theater, Unsien Mos has a quick chat with Gieca. He asks Gieca to pass on a message to Breth if she meets later. Mos advises that Breth “Seek out the Kestrel.”
“The bird? What’s that supposed to mean? Where would Breth find a Kestrel?”
A fair point. Mos recommends that Breth start at the starport.
Mos uses the public transport to head back to DSCP and picks up Fiaye’s aircar.
Mos gets to Van Ondriss’ ‘office’ address and finds a home. The home is dark (not all that suspicious this late at night) and Break Out is able to break in to the home easily.
Break Out is able to search the home briefly before the rest of his teammates (Wrasp, Boomer, and Slider, along with Hiv who is still chauffeuring Wrasp) show up.
Van Ondriss was obviously using his home to stage his plumbing business out of and about half of the house (including the garage) either stores plumbing materials and supplies, with one room converted to an office.
The power and water utilities have been shut off and the yard has been neglected for about five weeks (consistent with Ondriss arrest by the ISB).
Wrasp ask Boomer to convert a power cell and to power up Van Ondriss work terminal (in the ‘office’) and Boomer does so with expected ease.
The computer terminal shows that Van Ondriss seemed to be a successful plumber, but his primary client was Crylkis Holdings. And with Crylkis, he was receiving an unusually large volume of work requests from Breth. Cross checking addresses, Boomer discovers that two of the addresses aren’t associated with residences. One is to a local close by park and another leads to a diner.
The Diner would be closed so . . . TO THE PARK!
A quick trip later, they arrive at the park, which is solely occupied by a sleeping hobo. The park is more decorative than useful and is comprised of only some shrubbery, a couple of trees, and is otherwise covered with grass.
They awaken the hobo and question him. He seems to own the park but doesn’t provide much useful information. (Hindered by poor questions). He points out that if someone doesn’t have a place to sleep that there is a local homeless shelter, but the hobo doesn’t like staying there because there are so many rules and it’s grungy and dirty place. The PC’s discover shortly after, that this shelter houses men only.
Boomer tries to tie into her former Jedi Mentor and connects with Luminara. She demands from Luminara that she give her some viable lead on Breth Crylkis! Luminara replies that she doesn’t know who let alone where Breth is! The deceased mentor explains to her former pupil that if the mentor doesn’t know what path Fiaye is on, then Luminara can’t walk ahead to see what’s ahead. Luminara commends Fiaye on making a solid connection with Luminara but counsels the Mirialan to abandon her path along the dark side!
Meanwhile Wrasp searches the park and finds a dead drop! Under a false rock there is a datapad concealed. Wrasp asks Fiaye to access the datapad and see what it says.
Upon powering up the datapad, it’s obviously a Rebel Alliance datapad and though Boomer can’t access the datapad at the park, she is certain that she can bypass the security once they return to the Swooping Kestrel.
Taking an updated look at the information available, the team realizes that the data they need is probably on the Crylkis Holdings computer systems. They decide to meet up with Shett Tern early in the morning. Boomer is able to locate Tern’s address and the team arrive at about 6:00 a.m. on Starday and awaken Tern.
Tern is more open and happy to see “the Mirialan Woman.” Tern was unaware of Breth’s status as a Rebel Agent before her arrest, but he’s also not willing to see her handed over to the ISB. And NO he hadn’t facilitated a trap. Since seeing Boomer’s activities contrary to the ISB he’d been trying to re-connect with the team.
Tern doesn’t have the means to contact Breth, but is very willing to help Wrasp’s team access the computers at Crylkis Holdings. He dresses quickly and they all head over to the offices.
With Tern’s assistance, they get through building security without issue and though Tern has very limited access to the Crylkis Holdings computer systems, Boomer is able to slice the systems and access all of the records.
She focuses on the Van Ondriss Plumbing records and realizes that shortly after Breth’s attempted arrest, Van Ondriss Plumbing received a single work order. And under that work order, Van Ondriss has been accessing empty apartments! And the last one was accessed last night!
The team thank Tern and race off to the apartment, hoping to catch up with Breth.
She has just left, the location, but Wrasp and Break Out spot the woman as she turns into a side alley. (Thanks to the various visions of Breth, via the force, everyone is able to recognize the woman in spite of her disguise). Wrasp and Boomer (driven by Hiv) drive directly after the bedraggled woman, and Wrasp signals for Break Out to drive around and to get ready to intercept Breth if she attempts to flee.
Wrasp asks Boomer to stay in the taxi, and Wrasp exits the car. To his consternation, Boomer also exits the vehicle, but Wrasp calls out to Breth.
Forunately, she doesn’t escape and upon seeing Fiaye, she confirms that the two are there to extract her. Feeling safe, Breth pitches her knapsack into the closest garbage bin and enters the car. She still stinks in spite of last nights shower.
The teams change up vehicles as they have to sneak TWO wanted criminals past the Stormtroopers posted as security details to intercept one wanted Mirialan Woman.
Wrasp and Boomer stay in the taxi (as Boomer still has her bronzed human makeup) and Hiv takes off to deliver them to the Swooping Kestrel. They get through the checkpoint with little effort.
Following them in Boomer’s aircar, Slider drives the vehicle with Break Out seated behind him and Breth in the back seat, with the plan for Break Out to use the Force to mask Breth’s presence from the security troopers. The only catch is that he can only block her from up to three people at a time and there are over a dozen troopers!
Wrasp, understanding the limitations, and having succeeded, has an idea. He offers to pay Hiv more money to race through the security station! Poor Hiv is so sleep deprived and enticed by the offer that he accepts. Hiv also removes his shirt while Wrasp and Boomer exit his Taxi. After confirming payment from Wrasp (Hiv was paid $3,000 for his night’s adventures) the crazed Taxi driver recklessly bolts through the Security Checkpoint and draws off most of the guards.
These antics disrupt Slider’s guards a bit, but the two troopers just wait for the ruckus to die down.
Slider’s car has an upgraded All Points Bulletin in effect and the troopers ask if the vehicle belongs to Slider.
Slider answer to the affirmative, but the Troopers are looking for a Mirialan and a Duros. Not a Bothan Bounty Hunter.
Slider eventually explains that he commandeered this aircar and that the Duros in the back seat is his bounty.
The troopers remind Slider that there’s a $10,000 credit bounty for this Duros locally, but Slider informs them that he intends to collect the Hutt Bounty on his quarry which far exceeds the local bounty.
The troopers ask if Slider knows anything about the Mirialan Woman known to be working with the Duros and Slider explains that she dove into a sewer pipe. And Slider had no desire to try to clean that kind of funk out of his fur.
The Stormtroopers, satisfied with his explanation, let Slider slide through the checkpoint.
The crew are reassembled, and the ship departs, with a course set to take them back home to Kirdo III.
